Spray Foam Insulation Kits and Refill Packs for DIY Projects

Y’allCanDIY spray foam insulation is expanding polyurethane foam in pressurized cans, sold two ways: complete DIY spray foam insulation kits with everything you need to start spraying, and refill packs of cans for when you already own a foam gun. Packs run from 6 cans for small sealing jobs up to 576-can contractor bundles for whole-building work.

Spray foam insulation kit or refill pack?

Every Full DIY Kit ships with the foam plus a foam gun, gun cleaner, nozzles and straws, safety goggles, gloves, a protective suit and a mask. Refill packs contain the cans only; the foam gun, cleaner and protective equipment are sold separately. If this is your first project, start with a kit. If you already have a gun, a refill pack is all you need.

How many cans of spray foam do I need?

Each 32.8 oz (750 ml) can covers an estimated 20 sq ft at 1 inch thick, or about 10 sq ft at 2 inches, the thickness we recommend for insulation. A quick rule: divide the area in square feet by 10 to get the number of cans for a 2-inch layer, then add about 10% for waste. For example, a 200 sq ft wall at 2 inches needs about 20 cans, or 22 with the buffer, so a 24-pack covers it. As a guide, a 12-pack covers about 240 sq ft at 1 inch and a 48-pack about 960 sq ft. Actual coverage varies with temperature, humidity, surface and spraying technique.

Where to use spray foam insulation

Expanding foam fills gaps, cracks and uneven spaces in walls, attics, garages, sheds, ceilings and other hard-to-reach areas, and it bonds to wood, concrete, brick, metal and stone. Once cured, it forms an insulating layer that helps reduce drafts, energy loss and noise transfer.

Before you spray

  • Shake each can well and spray from 12 to 18 inches away.
  • Work between 60°F and 90°F. Higher humidity helps the foam cure faster and more evenly.
  • Build thickness in layers rather than in one heavy pass.
  • Wear the goggles, gloves, mask and suit, and keep the work area ventilated.

Bulk spray foam for contractors

For large jobs, the 144, 288 and 576-can bundles come as full kits or as cans only. Contractors and resellers can also browse our Bulk / Dealer collection and the Pro Wholesale program.
